Community Spotlight: Meet Our Community Partners

Rusty Hinton, LaFayette Ford , is presented with the Committed Community Support Award

Each month, we’re proud to spotlight a community partner who has gone above and beyond to support Cumberland County Schools. This month, we are excited to recognize Brandon Price from Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity, the recipient of the Committed Community Support Award.

The Committed Community Support Award honors an individual or group for their dedicated and selfless contributions to the school system. November's winners, Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity and its CEO, Brandon Price, collaborated with eight high schools in spring 2024 to bring their Trades Days program to students. High school students learned about the trades industry, tool and site safety, and how to build a toolbox.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Special Populations Coordinator Amber Wall shared insight about the program's success. "The program specifically changes a student's trajectory in life with the hope of convincing the student to stay in school rather than dropping out," Wall said. "They (FAHFH) are an all-around amazing organization, and we are working to continue the partnership for the 2024-25 school year with even more memorable and impactful experiences."

“From one-on-one tutoring and mentoring to donating critical resources like school supplies and technology, our volunteers help break down barriers to learning, ensuring that all students have a fair chance to succeed.”
