SLMS Student Services
Dear SLMS Families, Students, and Staff,
Welcome to this month’s Student Services Newsletter. Our department is committed to supporting the whole child through academic success, social-emotional support, college and career readiness, community resources, and equitable access. Please review the updates, reminders, and resources below.
ACADEMIC SUCCESS
As we move through the month, we encourage all students to stay focused on attendance, assignments, and academic progress. Families are encouraged to check Infinite Campus regularly to monitor grades, missing assignments, and teacher feedback.
Student Success Tips:
- Students should bring their Chromebook charged each day, complete missing work as soon as possible, attend tutoring when available, and ask teachers for help before grades become a concern.
- Parents and guardians can support students by setting a consistent homework routine, reviewing grades weekly, and communicating with teachers early when concerns arise.
SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
Student Services is here to help students manage stress, peer conflict, emotions, decision-making, and personal challenges. Students may request to speak with a counselor, social worker, or other support staff when needed.
This month, we are encouraging students to practice:
Taking a moment before reacting can help students make better decisions, avoid conflict, and stay focused on their goals.
COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS
It is never too early for middle school students to begin thinking about their future. This month, students are encouraged to explore their interests, strengths, and career goals.
Students should ask themselves:
- What am I good at?
- What do I enjoy learning about?
- What kind of career might match my interests?
Families can support career readiness by having conversations about future goals, high school courses, college options, trade programs, military pathways, and career interests.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Every school day counts. Regular attendance helps students stay connected, keep up with assignments, and build strong academic habits.
Please make sure students arrive on time and attend school daily unless they are sick or have an approved absence. If your child is struggling with attendance, please reach out to the school so we can help connect your family with support.
COMMUNITY RESOURCES

Student Services can assist families with locating resources related to basic needs, mental health support, school supplies, clothing, food assistance, and other community-based services.
